Alum Roydell Williams Competes for Redskins’ Roster Spot

Former Tulane WR Roydell Williams

Some good news for a former Green Wave Wide Receiver. Roydell Williams looks like he could finally see game action again in the NFL after two years off.

After signing with the Washington Redskins in May of 2009, Williams was waived during last years training camp with a hand injury. He has since worked his way back and looks like he will make the Redskins roster.

Williams is competing for a starting job opposite of WR Santana Moss with Joey Galloway and Devin Thomas.

He could make some noise in the NFL this year after finally being healthy. Williams’ career thus far has been marred by injuries, but the potential is still there. In his 40 game career, Williams has caught 84 passes for a total of 1,139 yards and 6 touchdowns.

In his collegiate career with the Green Wave, Williams shattered the Tulane and Conference USA career receiving touchdown record by finishing his career with 35 touchdowns and ranks second all-time at Tulane and Conference USA in career receiving yards with 3,207.

Good Luck Roydell!
